Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

MLD therapy uses light, rhythmic pumping movements that are applied to the client’s skin. These help to drain excess fluids and remove waste products through the lymphatic system. It is a deeply relaxing technique that lessens pain. MLD promotes the healing of fractures, torn ligaments, and sprains. It has been shown to improve chronic conditions such as sinusitus, rheumatoid arthritis, acne, and other skin conditions. As part of “detox” treatments it has positive effects on the immune system. By supporting the lymphatic system, MLD relieves swollen ankles, tired puffy eyes, and swollen legs during pregnancy. It is used as a therapy to minimise or reduce stretch marks. It has shown positive effects in the after care of orthoapedic and cosmetic surgery and facilitates the healing of wounds and burns. MLD further improves the appearance of scars. In its most advanced form, the technique is used in the treatment and control of lymphoedema following cancer treatments. MLD therapy will always be tailored and adapted to your needs. It is initially applied in weekly or more frequent sessions.
