Bowen Technique

Bowen Technique

Bowen uses precise, gentle, rolling thumb/finger movements. These motions focus on the muscles, tendons, and ligaments, to promote pain relief by stimulating the body’s own the nervous system to re-boot itself.  Unlike chiropractic, the client’s own body is triggered into doing the adjustments, which the body continues to process over the next 4/5 days. It can be good for wide variety of muscular-skeletal problems, including frozen shoulder (a few treatments required possibly), migraines, back and neck pain, and joint pain and stiffness; including leg-length discrepancies. It can, like CranioSacral Therapy, help clear, unresolved emotions and trauma sometimes.

The experience of a treatment is gentle, subtle and relaxing. It is not dependent on hard pressure and there is no awkward bending, twisting or re-positioning of the client during the treatment. Because of this, Bowen can be considered for clients for whom other forms of therapy might be too aggressive, forceful or invasive. The tiniest of babies through to the frailest of adults have been treated with Bowen.
