Face Reflexology

Face Reflexology

The unique benefit of Facial Reflexology is that, not only does it aim to help improve health and wellbeing, it can help achieve a healthy glow.

We apply energy healing techniques, use facial reflexology tools, lymphatic drainage massage movements, and specific facial reflexology reflex points. The Bergman Method Facial Reflexology, used at Calmblue, is built on a combination of Native American techniques and Asian body maps that chart the reflex points on the face, combined with Zone Theory.

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a natural, non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the hypothesis that different points on the feet, lower legs, hands, face and ears correspond with tissues, systems and organs within the entire body. Stimulation of one point can bring about a response or reaction in the corresponding part of the body.

Reflexologists work holistically with their clients, and aim to work alongside both allopathic and complementary healthcare to promote better health for their clients. As well as working on the physical level, reflexology also works on an emotional, mental, and spiritual level.

Is reflexology suitable for me?

Reflexology is a therapy that can be received by anyone of any age, from newborn babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in-between. There may occasionally be times when it is not suitable to provide a treatment, and this would be discussed beforehand. Facial Reflexology may be best suited to older children and adults.

Will reflexology help me?

Well-trained reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose, or prescribe. Reflexology provides uniquely personal treatments, tailored to you as a whole person, and taking into account both physical and non-physical factors that might be affecting your wellbeing. Some people find it works for them, and some don’t. The best way to find out is to try it.

Reflexology aims to help the body to restore its balance naturally. Usually, after a treatment any tension may be reduced and you should feel relaxed. You might also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of wellbeing improved. You may also find that other aspects benefit; however, this varies from person to person.

Some positive research projects have been carried out with reflexology, however, as yet, there is not a large enough body of evidence to make clinical claims of effectiveness.

With ever-increasing levels of stress in daily life, it is important for people to take more ownership and responsibility for their individual healthcare needs. Reflexology could form one part of your personal approach to health, and help in reducing the stresses of modern life.

What happens during a facial reflexology session?

Your full medical history will be taken during the session or beforehand. This information will be kept confidential.

For an in-person session the therapist will then use their hands and facial reflexolpgy tools to apply pressure to the face and neck, and massage your shoulders and arms. You may feel areas of passing discomfort during the treatment, but generally the experience should be relaxing. The therapist may recommend a course of treatments, depending on what shows up.

Remote facial reflexology sessions take place via Zoom, and you will be guided through a self treatment by your practitioner.

How will I feel after a reflexology treatment?

It is useful to give feedback to the reflexologist after the session, as this may highlight your body’s response to the treatment. This can help the reflexologist tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs. After one or two treatments your body may respond in a noticeable way. Most people note a sense of well-being and relaxation; however, sometimes people report feeling lethargic, nauseous, or tearful. This is usually temporary and is thought to be part of the healing process.

Frequency of Sessions

This will be assessed and discussed at the end of the first session. Some people benefit from treatments every week or two initially, reducing to monthly or six-weekly treatments. Other people may only need to come on a monthly basis from the start, and others chose to have treatments as and when they feel the need for reflexology.
